Report: Annual Midsummer Party June 8, 2007

NCCJ held it's Annual Midsummer Party on Friday June 8 with a record number of participants for any NCCJ event. On a pleasantly cool evening we followed the Norwegian tradition of getting together on early summer nights to celebrate the start of the sunny (we hope) and warm days ahead. Members from our Norwegian Chamber, Norway-Japan Society (NJS) and staff from the Norwegian Embassy were in attendance.

In all 110 guests and staff gathered around the Norwegian Embassy's pool to enjoy a mountain of shrimp and other delicious food items in an informal setting. We tried our best to make use of as many Norwegian resources available in Tokyo (seafood, beer, reindeer salami, akkevit, etc.)

We wish to thank the ambassador H.E. Aage B. Grutle for letting us use the premises so freely and also for donating a large supply of beer to the party.

Also we thank our members Hoegh Autoliners and Wallenius Wilhelmsen for supplying the Party with Linie Akkevit; Suizu-san from Hallvard Lerøy AS for supplying the delicious Smoked Salmon and Kyoko Sekine for making all the delicious salads and dips.

And a big thanks to all the volunteers who helped both before, during and after the party: Odd, Fujita-san, Sekine-san, Bettina, Rune, Tomomi, Teruyo, Per-Christer, Takako, Svein, John-Ivar, Tavi and many more.

We hope to repeat this event in 2008.
