Topic: ‘Flying the Colours in Challenging Times’: TheSAS Story
In response to the many challenges caused by the recent economic problems, SAS has taken a number of interesting and successful steps - to keep customers happy, maintain passenger traffic while at the same time reducing costs and improving business operations.
Lars Sandahl Sørensen joined Scandinavian Airlines International as General Manager, Australia and New Zealand, in 2003. In September 2006, he returned to Scandinavia and took on the role as Chief Commercial Officer. Almost a year later he became CEO of SAS International. On February 4, 2009, he was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of SAS.
Prior to SAS, Sandahl Sørensen was CEO of the Danish Tourist Board/Visit Denmark, as well as Director of the Scandinavian Tourist Board in Tokyo and has held positions in Danish Industries (DI), IKEA and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds University degrees in Business Administration and Economics.
Lars has studied and worked in Scandinavia, Japan, USA, UK and Australia. Lars now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark with his wife and two boys.
